#DemDebate: Top Tweets
Ten of the Democratic candidates for President faced off last night in the first debate of the 2020 cycle and the Internet had a lot to say. We rounded up some of our favorite tweets.
It’s wonderful to see so many women onstage. To have no one candidate be “the woman.”

This is harder than keeping track of the characters on Game of Thrones. #DemocraticDebate

I’m really tired of both parties not asking for or seeking the Asian American vote.
AAPI’s are the fastest growing minority in the country. We’re here to stay, and our votes/voices matter. #DemDebate

It’s nice to watch men interrupting other men for a change #DemDebate

Please take a moment and appreciate that history there of three women on that stage.

I can’t believe the first #DemDebate is finally here! Over the next two nights we’ll see SIX women take the debate stage. It would be a dream come true, if only I’d been able to imagine it.

Turns out when you put people of color and women on the debate stage, and when you have women moderating, you get a more substantive debate. #DemDebate

If Night 1 was any indication, we think it’s safe to say that Night 2 will deliver some more great content. We’ll be watching!
Night 2, here we go!
And just when we thought the debate was the highlight of the night, Twitter comes through with some great reactions. Here are some of our favorite tweets from Night 2 of the Democratic debate.
All the white men are yelling. So emotional. Are they temperamentally qualified to lead? #DemDebate

One thing’s for sure, on both of these nights, the women candidates were superstars. They were competent, smart, experienced, calm, solid #DemocraticDebate #demdebate2

We got a RACE race and the winners of these debates were two women, one of color, and think about how much further we’d be as a country if this weren’t a first. #DemocraticDebate #DemDebate2

I would happily watch a debate exclusively consisting of the women senators moderated by Rachel Maddow and be totally fulfilled.

FINAL THOUGHTS #DemDebate2:
1. Some of the women were willing to interrupt others and speak up to get their point across in this scrappy debate.
2. Men invoked parentage more so than woman once again.
3. Overall, women were breaking gender stereotypes!#genderontheballot pic.twitter.com/uh00mI6YGV— Women & Politics Ins (@AU_WPI) June 28, 2019

Unfortunately for all the Twitter-dwellers out there, we’ll have to wait a whole month for more of these debate gems. The next Democratic debates will be on July 30th and 31st in Detroit.
