It was a big night for Joe Biden down in Mississippi where he beat Bernie Sanders by 66 points.

What do we know about the women of Mississippi who voted in the Democratic primary on Super Tuesday II?

In terms of turnout, women made up a majority of Democratic primary voters – totaling 58% of the electorate.

Overall, Joe Biden handily won female Democratic primary voters with 83% compared to Sanders at 12%.

And what about the gender gap – how did women differ from men in who they supported?

Men were more likely than women to support Sanders (a 6 point gap).  Conversely, women were more likely than men to support Biden (a 5 point gap).

The publicly released exit poll in Mississippi also provided data about how married and unmarried women voted – both demographics heavily favored Biden but his support was stronger among married women. Non-married women made up a slightly larger share of the electorate than married women.
