Jacqueline Pelella is the Communications Fellow at Power to Decide, the campaign to prevent unplanned pregnancy, helping women gain access to contraception and reproductive health care around the nation. Prior to that, Jacqueline interened for Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and at two major public affairs and public relations firms in Washington, D.C. In December 2019, Jacqueline graduated with her Master’s in Political Communication from American University. For her Master’s capstone she conducted research with over 600 politically active women to gain a greater understanding of their attitudes and motivations towards political participation. From this, she developed a communications plan to increase women’s representation in politics. Jacqueline graduated in 2018 with her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from American University. Her undergraduate work at American University, included courses on women and politics to complete the Women and Politics Institute; Women, Policy, and Political Leadership Certificate. Additionally, Jacqueline was awarded by her professors the Alice Paul Award, which is given to individuals who demonstrate Paul’s vision for women’s full equality. Jacqueline’s passion and dedication to women in politics is a key driver of her academic work. She is looking forward to diving into the world of political communications and strengthening the role of women in electoral politics.
